Born August 30, 1932 in Mie Prefecture, Ōnishi Ryūhō (Ōnishi Satoshi) studied Tozan-ryū shakuhachi under Ikeda Seizan. He became an instructor in 1970. He belonged to the Nagoya Aoi-kai and Tozan-ryū Hōyū-sha.
